Evaluation visit to phase 1 of support for producers in Logone Oriental and Mayo Kebbi Est

The Job Booster Chad Entreprise team based in N'Djamena carried out a field mission in Gounou Gaya and Doba alongside entrepreneurship facilitators from April 29 to May 06, 2023. The purpose of the mission was to evaluate the pre-incubation phase, select producers to be incubated and plan activities for the second phase.
First, the mission carried out an exhaustive evaluation of the activities carried out during the first phase. This evaluation enabled us to assess the extent to which objectives had been achieved, and to draw lessons for possible adjustments in the next phase. These results will be incorporated into the final report on this first phase.

The mission then proceeded to validate the results of the selection of producers for the next phase of support. This selection work had been carried out by the animators prior to this mission, and the selection criteria included :

  • Effectiveness of entrepreneurial activity: the facilitators visited all the producers' activity sites to observe the service or product being sold to customers.
  • Producer attendance at work during the pre-incubation phase: the facilitators calculated the number of times each producer was present or absent from the various phase 1 activities. All producers whose attendance rate is below 70% are systematically eliminated.
  • The potential of the producer's sector of activity: the facilitators talked to producers carrying out the same activity to assess the ease and/or difficulty of selling their products/services. In addition, they discussed with producers the details of the raw materials, equipment and inputs used in the production of their services or products; then assessed, based on their experience, whether these equipment, raw materials and inputs were available and accessible on the local, regional and national markets.
  • Producer's vision and ambitions: The moderators discussed each entrepreneur's vision of the activity he/she was carrying out, and assessed whether this vision was clear, realistic and demonstrated the entrepreneurial potential in this person.

Finally, the team drew up and validated the schedule for phase 2 of the support. To draw up this schedule, the team held working sessions with a number of players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including the Logone Oriental delegation of the Ministry of Livestock, the Kabbia livestock sector, Finadev, UCEC/Pala, the ANADER sector in Kabbia and Logone Oriental, and the municipality of Gounou-Gaya, among others. These working sessions enabled the mission team to define together with these various players the areas of collaboration for the next phase of support.
It should be noted that the mission team took advantage of its stay to visit Djérabe Héritier, a program entrepreneur selected for the Land Accelerator Program, an international support program for entrepreneurs specializing in landscape restoration. Héritier benefited from technical support from the Job Booster Chad Entreprise team to succeed in this program. Héritier specializes in the production and sale of nurseries of various varieties, which it sells throughout the Logone Oriental province.
