As part of the Agri Job Booster Chad project, our teams organized practical training workshops for 300 market gardeners at six sites in the Tandjilé province.
One of the fundamental objectives of the Agri Job Booster Chad project is to train and support rural producers in business and entrepreneurship. The aim of this training and coaching is to enable the market garden producers benefiting from the project to run and manage their activities with an entrepreneurial approach, thereby improving their profitability and helping to improve their living conditions. This profitability will be achieved by making these producers more competitive on the market, improving their decision-making and adopting sustainable agricultural practices, which will increase the viability of their activities in the long term.
The week-long training workshops covered the following modules:
-
- Becoming an agricultural entrepreneur | The trainer helped producers discover themselves, develop entrepreneurial skills and position themselves as agricultural entrepreneurs with clearly defined visions and the means to achieve these visions.
-
- The agricultural world and its opportunities | The trainer informed and sensitized the agri-preneurs on the agricultural potentialities of the Tandjilé region and how they can take advantage of it.
-
- Rules governing the management and operation of agricultural cooperatives: the trainer trained the agripreneurs in the rules governing the operation and management of an agricultural cooperative.
-
- Practicing agriculture from a new perspective | The trainer inspired agri-preneurs to engage in agricultural activities with a new vision and approach.
The AJB project aims to create decent jobs and small businesses in two agricultural segments: market gardening and poultry farming. Woord & Daad Nederland, Job Booster Chad Enterprise, CRIPT, ANADER and N-Bio Solutions are working together to foster an entrepreneurial environment where small-scale farmers will have the opportunity to invest in themselves and their farms. The efforts of these partners will result in more sustainable jobs and higher incomes for rural producers in the Logone Occidental and Tandjilé provinces. Job Booster Chad Entreprise is the project's private partner, providing business training and support for producers in setting up and managing their micro-enterprises.
